What a car wash does
A drive-through or quick hand wash is fast and handy. It takes dirt, dust and bugs off the outside. It usually does not reach door jambs, wheel faces, tight seams or the interior in much depth. Some brush washes can leave fine scratches in the paint.
What detailing adds

Things to think about
Mobile service needs a place to park. Driveways, garages and work lots all work, but ask your property or employer if the rules are unclear, and check your HOA's rules about work in driveways. Plan on the vehicle being available for the visit. Detailing also takes longer than a wash, so pick a day that suits you.
A quick way to choose
Look at the car in daylight. Open the doors and check the seams, the carpets and the jambs. If those are dirty, a wash will not fix them. If only the outside has a light film of dust, a wash may be all you need.
Time matters too. A detail takes longer than a wash, but a mobile visit gives that time back because you are not driving anywhere.
